In 2018, Fort Collins Police Officer Adam Brunjes and his wife Jodi started the Blue Warriors hockey team, which began playing fundraising games against other first responder teams throughout Colorado. In 2 years, they raised close to $100,000 for local non-profits and first responder families in need.
In 2022, Adam and Jodi began a First Responder Hockey League which consisted of 8 teams. After the first year of the league, 4 new teams joined, and by the middle of 2023, they received interest from 6 more teams to join for 2024.
Since the league was growing faster than they ever expected, starting in 2024, Adam and Jodi will embark on their new chapter of first responder hockey by creating the Brave Warriors Hockey League (BWHL). There will be 17 first responder teams in the league representing Police and Fire agencies from all over Colorado and Cheyenne, Wyoming. Adam and Jodi created this league with the intent to further the already strong camaraderie among police and fire departments in Colorado. It also gives the first responder players a healthy outlet to help them deal with their tolls of service. Adam and Jodi both know how strong the brotherhood and sisterhood of first responders are and wanted to combine that with the strong fellowship that already exists within the hockey community. The BWHL also shows the community the human side of first responders and helps them give back to the community in which they serve.
A League of WARRIORS!
