In 2018, Fort Collins Police Officer Adam Brunjes and his wife, Jodi, founded the Blue Warriors Hockey Team to raise awareness and funds for first responders and their families. The team played fundraising games across Colorado and, in just two years, raised nearly $100,000 for local nonprofits and families in need.
In 2022, Adam and Jodi expanded their vision by forming the Brave Warriors Hockey League, comprised entirely of first responder and veteran teams. What began with eight teams quickly grew to seventeen, reflecting the love for connection, camaraderie, and support within the community.
That growth and passion led to the launch of the Brave Warriors Hockey Foundation, an officially recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit, in the spring of 2025. The Brunjes family’s mission for the foundation is to strengthen camaraderie among first responders and veterans while providing a healthy, supportive outlet for the physical and emotional challenges of service, through hockey.
